About Event

Ever wonder how the circuit boards for the iPhone and Mac Studio are made?

Join 2 of the designers behind the circuit boards in iPhones and Macs to ask them any question you can dream of!

Call format: 1 hour Zoom call, 40-80 teenagers, RSVP to get the Zoom call link. Must be age 18 or below to RSVP.

This AMA is part of Hack Club OnBoard - a $100 grants program for teenagers to make circuits (https://hackclub.com/onboard/).

Bios:

Daniel Castle - Electrical engineer at Apple, worked on flexible PCBs in the iPhone 11s and iPhone 12 Mini (used for the cameras and Face ID). Now helping develop hardware prototypes for future products.

Chris Conard - Technical lead for circuit boards in the Mac Studio. He is 1 of the 2 people who designed the main logic board, and he leads a team of 10 engineers that design all of the boards in the Mac Studio.

Conversation topics:

- How do circuit boards used in production devices get made?
- What is different from working on hobby boards and production boards?
- How did they personally get into circuit board design? They are both in their 20s and early 30s.
- How does a board go from an idea to being manufactured hundreds of millions of times?
- And any other questions you have!
